Elizabeth Jackson, Flute

Elizabeth Jackson Elizabeth Detweiler Jackson has received national acclaim for her virtuosic flute playing. Ms. Jackson currently holds the position of co-principal flute in the United States Coast Guard Band. In May of 2002, Ms. Jackson completed a Master’s Degree in Flute Performance at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. While attending USC she was under the instruction of Mr. James Walker and received a USC Dean’s Music Scholarship. Studying under Professor Terri Sundberg, Elizabeth received a Bachelor’s degree from the University of North Texas, where she was awarded a Wind Studies Scholarship throughout her four years of attendance. In July of 2007, Ms. Jackson performed in the Newport Music Festival with Göran Marcusson and The Colorado Quartet. In March of 2003, Elizabeth won 1st place in the Mid-South Flute Association’s Young Artist Competition and was a semi-finalist in the Albuquerque Flute Association’s Frank Bowen Competition. Elizabeth won 1st place in the USC Concerto Competition and performed Mozart’s Concerto in D Major with the USC Thornton Chamber Orchestra in September of 2001. While in California, Elizabeth performed with the Los Angeles Young Musician’s Foundation Debut Orchestra, the American Youth Symphony of Los Angeles, and The Henry Mancini Institute in Long Beach. She has also performed with the Opera in the Ozarks in Eureka Springs, Arkansas and the College Light Opera Company in Cape Cod, MA. In the summer of 2001 she was a Clinician at the Texas Flute Society Festival and also attended a Flute Master Class given by Göran Marcusson in Bjertorp, Sweden. In addition to playing in the Coast Guard Band, Ms. Jackson performs in the Radiance Woodwind Quintet. She also teaches private flute lessons and substitutes in the Rhode Island Philharmonic and the Eastern Connecticut Symphony.
